External style sheets are independent files that have the .css extension. These are linked to the document through a relation link. The advantage of working with external style sheets is that you can use them for several documents. Working with external style sheet ensures a uniform formatting of your Web pages.
Click on the CSS tab.
Click on the Edit external file button. The External Style Sheet window is displayed.
From the File menu, click on the option NEW CSS sheet. The windowÆs name changes to Defined Style Sheets.
From the file
menu which is now active, click on the option New
CSS.
The Style
Sheet Wizard is displayed.
From the File menu on the Define style sheet window, click on the option Save CSS to save your style sheet.
If the style sheet already exists, the new definitions replace the olds ones without a confirmation box being displayed.
If it is a new style sheet the Save file dialog box is displayed. Specify the file name and the folder. Make sure the type of file is .css format.
You can easily modify or remove a rule belonging to a style sheet.
To save an external style sheet under a different name:
This command is useful when you want to use an existing style sheet as a template to create a new style sheet.
Once you have made changes to the file, click on the Save CSS As from the File menu found on the Defined Style Sheets window.
In the File Name text box from dialog box Save file, type a name to identify the file.
Check the folder.
In the Files of Type text box, make sure that the fileÆs extension is .css.
Click on the Save button.
To open an existing style sheet:
From the File
menu of the Defined style sheets
window, click on the Open CSS option.
In the dialog box Open Files(s)
appears.
By default, AceHTML only displays files that have the .css
extension.
Select the desired CSS file.
All rules contained in the document appear in the Defined style sheets window.
